E: Brokedown Palace [version "a" is entire song & version "b" is the infamously cut off encore from the radio simulcast]
Though I had seen The Grateful Dead once prior in 1987, this is where my "long strange trip" truly began. My friends and I had tickets in hand for July 2, 1989 in Foxboro, MA, and couldn't wait! Then we heard that the "Summer Solstice" show would be aired live as a Pay Per View cable TV event with a radio simulcast on WBCN FM 104.1 in Boston, MA. Watched the first set on TV at Sonny & Judy's apartment in Dorchester. Then screamed home and got the entire second set off the radio. Since 1989, my only copy of this show was the 2nd set on a cassette tape! I have never even heard this 1st set prior to finding this copy in a 1989 torrent file. This is NOT the radio copy. Clarence Clemmons sits in on sax for much of the second set. This ZIP file includes the encore of Brokedown Palace in its entirety (file "23a"), as well as the infamously cut-off encore from the radio simulcast on WBCN & Westwood One Radio Network (file "23b"). My old cassette tape of the 2nd set was wearin' thin. And I've been looking for the whole show in an MP3 ZIP format forever. So... I am re-sharing it here, in hopes that others who remember and enjoyed this broadcast will be able to listen too!
